THE NEW SWEDEN

This is a documentary about Sweden in 1996. About dramatic social, economical and cultural changes in a country ten years after its prime minister, Olof Palme, was assassinated.

Folke Rydén explores what happened in Sweden over these last ten years. He reveals changes in Sweden’s traditional homogeous population and its cradle-to-grave social welfare system. And how Sweden has to take painful steps in order to adapt to the international scene that it is now part of, regardless of whether people like it or not.

Reviews

“A beautiful epic of the times of change for industry and man”

[Folke’s] unique perceptiveness coupled with a sensitivity to the totality and the desire to tell a story always pays off”

– Upsala Nya Tidning
